Tomorrow, Tuesday December 4, the United States Senate will vote on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
This treaty is so flawed. CRPD would give the U.N. oversight of the healthcare and education choices parents with special needs kids make. If this were to pass, CRPD would become the law of the land under the U.S. Constitution's Supremacy Clause, trumping state laws, and potentially being used as precedent by state and federal judges. This treaty would give the government, acting under U.N. instructions, the ability to determine for all children with disabilities what is best for them. It also would give the U.N. discretion over decisions about how we educate our special needs kids, and could potentially eliminate parental rights for the education of children with disabilities.
We must defeat CRPD. Help us do that by doing the following:
a.. Call your senators right now to voice your opposition. Even if you've called already, call again. Call the Capitol operator at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Senator. Tell your senator to oppose the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities because it jeopardizes our sovereignty and threatens our rights as parents to make decisions for our special needs kids.
