The battle over the healthcare exchange will fully emerge on Tuesday of next week in the Senate Commerce and Human Resources committee. Please contact the Senators and let your voice be heard. Dr. Fenwick from Coeur d'Alene gave a presentation in the Senate Health and Welfare committee on a private market healthcare exchange called Patient Power on Monday, which would save the state millions and citizens thousands of dollars.
Ken Ivory of the American Lands Council gave a hopeful presentation on how Idaho should and can transfer federal lands back to the control of Idaho in the Senate Resource committee on Monday.
This week I have been in several meetings concerning gun rights and how we, as a state, can extend our 2nd Amendment rights and protect Idaho schools. I also was briefed this week on the current gun laws in Idaho.
Lastly, this week I have been reviewing the education budgets in Finance. I also have been working on creating a volunteer license plate for Emergency Medical Service volunteers.
We have been busy with finishing up administrative rules in the various committees. I ask that you review rules in your profession and inform me what you think of them. It is very difficult to make an informed judgment of a rule when I hear only one side of the story. Please come and testify if there is a problem-it can mean the difference of passing or not passing a rule in committee.
