Ronald Reagan had said that the American people would never fall for national health insurance unless it was disguised or from misguided compassion. Of most importance is the state health insurance exchange. The Senate Commerce Committee will listen to testimony at 1:30pm on Tuesday in the garden level. The other states look to us to resist Obamacare. Please come and testify against this national health care takeover. You are vital for this.
The massage therapy rules and fees passed through the Health and Welfare committee. The committee didn't receive any public comment against them. This is just a reminder; it is very important for the legislature to hear the voices of the people and their concerns about the various rules the state departments are trying to implement. The rule-making oversight has finished for this year.
Two issues were delayed in committee for now and I am relieved for awhile. The immunization central database bill was stopped due to the outcry of the public. This bill also is probably against existing law. Additionally, the MAGI and medicaid changes were delayed due to too many questions and concerns that went un-answered in committee. Some of these concerns stem from the opinion of Chief Justice Roberts in the Supreme Court case regarding Obamacare. Do we have to implement the medicaid changes? Both of these issues will surface again next week. Please contact me if you have concerns or information.
The first day of voting on the various budget items in JFAC started this last Thursday which means that we are starting to make headway on establishing a budget for the state.
